Hey all, heard on the radio this morning about the La Flèche du Nord ride to Copper Harbor May 7, 2011. Will there be any road bikers or will it be all mountain bikers. THANKS.

The route is going to have a ton of pavement in it, and I expect that almost everybody will be riding road or cyclocross bikes. There will be a few sections of gravel roads, but they should still be easily ridable on 23c road tires. More information about the course can be found at: http://www.bikethekeweenaw.com/race/race_news.html, including a preliminary route.

The inspiration for the ride is definitely the European Spring Classics, like Paris-Roubaix. It’s definitely a road ride, but one you’ll get dirty on! And the party in Copper Harbor will make it all worth it.
